Hope Village is a new, collaborative project between three Illinois organizations. This non-profit startup is building a unique and permanent small-home community in Champaign-Urbana that offers free, energy-efficient housing for people in that community who are most at risk of experiencing chronic disease and homelessness.
I was asked to create a script for a 45- second, animated video which introduced the village and its goals.
As I am an advocate for underserved communities, when I learned of this project I immediately volunteered, and was granted, to be the lead copywriter for Hope Village.
Keeping the video to 45 seconds in length required brevity and maximum impact to the words chosen. Working within the script format in use by the client, I created copy for voiceover work alongside descriptions of how I envisioned the images to illustrate the words.
Animator Alicia Corl brought the script to life in video.
